Dota 2 Colored names

In order to use a colored name you use a console command with special control characters.
Console command: setinfo name "yourname"
Control characters:
Example: setinfo name "Spectrum!!"
The control characters won't be visible in the console but will display as filled squares in the score board.

How to change color mid-sentence?

Wolbachia said...

That possibility was removed months ago, it was done through html. Now you can at most modify the color once by using these characters in your name.

Can still do it mid sentence. Just copy the control characters there^^

How to change it?

If the control characters don't display try another browser or change Encoding under View to UTF-8. If you see boxes with numbers it's a font issue but these "boxes" are still copy-pastable to the console.

whre is the control characters?

As I have stated the control characters are already contained in the first post. If you can not see them it is a browser/encoding issue. Two of the most common appearances of this page in different browsers are visible in this screenshot, both are copy-pastable.

The control characters are simply ASCII characters with codes from 1 to 8.

You can reproduce them by holding ALT and typing 0257, 0258, 0259, 0260 0261, 0262, 0263 or 0264 with numpad.

Note that since they are non-printing control characters they may or may not show in your text editor.

Thanks a lot for the help. I copied and pasted the line that was given and it worked.

However, I can only view the colours in spectator mode. I cannot view the colours when I am playing in normal game.

Any help?

Possible to post the coding here instead? Can't read the encoding from the png image.
